Earlier this year, QUT established the Division of Business Development to provide university-wide coordination and stewardship of QUT’s research commercialisation and engagement with industry, philanthropic and alumni communities. The university will also establish an Office of Industry Engagement within the Division of Business Development to lead QUT’s research industry engagement and commercialisation function.

The commercialisation function that currently resides with QUT bluebox will be performed by the Office of Industry Engagement, while the entrepreneurship function currently undertaken by QUT bluebox will be reviewed and integrated by QUT Entrepreneurship as appropriate. Subsequently QUT bluebox will cease by the end of 2019.

QUT bluebox as an entity will continue at this time, and its shareholdings in various companies will be overseen by the university and QUT bluebox parent entity, QUT Enterprise Holdings.

QUT would like to thank the QUT bluebox board and staff for all their efforts over the past 13 years. There are many technologies and research outcomes that are being commercialised thanks to bluebox expertise.
