A key strategy in the management of QUT's intellectual capital is the creation of new start-up companies. bluebox manages these activities via its guidance in identification and sourcing of investment, company/project management and board participation.

Intellectual property developed at QUT has been integral in the creation of many companies, six of which are highlighted below:

  • Tissue Therapies Ltd web link, with key technologies in novel growth factors and autologous cell therapies.
  • ImpediMed Ltd web link, a medical device company focusing on bioimpedance.
  • Farmacule Bioindustries Pty Ltd web link, which is a molecular farming company.
  • Evogenix Ltd web link provides advanced technologies to provide powerful new antibody therapeutics for world markets.
  • AdAlta Pty Ltd web link, which is using a platform-technology approach to develop novel antibody and peptide-based therapeutics against select targets. 
  • Rail Innovation Australia Pty Ltd web link, a spin-off company created from the Cooperative Research Centre for Railway Engineering and Technologies (Rail CRC). bluebox is a shareholder in the company, which works with partners to commercialise the world-leading technologies developed in the Rail CRC, and is positioning itself as an industry leader in intellectual property transfer, commercialisation and the development of new technologies in collaborative partnerships with manufacturers and technology users.
