bluebox provides a range of services to QUT researchers to facilitate knowledge transfer outcomes for QUT projects.
Engagement
- We develop commercial relationships with external communities, including industry, government and community representatives.
- We attend university and industry networking events to ensure that the best and brightest contacts are at our disposal.
- We support QUT initiatives to help promote university activities to a wider audience.
Intellectual property management
- We identify QUT-developed intellectual property through discussions with researchers from all areas of the university.
- Where appropriate, we implement protection mechanisms to retain commercial rights to intellectual property, including patenting and filing trademarks.
- We evaluate publishing concerns to ensure that commercialization and academic advancement can occur in tandem.
Commercial guidance
- We work with QUT researchers to progress suitable projects towards commercialisation.
- We assess a range of considerations relevant to all pathways to translate research outcomes for the benefit of the community, including non-traditional means.
Agreement negotiation
- We manage agreement and licensing negotiations with external parties.
- We provide guidance and assistance with software licensing and open source.
- We direct activities relating to forming start-up companies based on QUT research.
Funding
- We assist researchers to prepare commercially savvy grant and funding applications.
- We administer the bluebox proof of concept fund, and award funding to advance projects towards proof of concept milestones.
Education
- We raise awareness of intellectual property management via events for staff and students.
Other researcher support services
The Office of Commercial Services 
provides support to researchers in the areas of consulting services, continuing education, international projects and basic contract research.
The Office of Research assists with grant administration, collaborative research, and ethics, research budgets and data management.
