To help us help QUT staff and students to navigate through the varied and diverse area of commercialising research, bluebox assesses a number of considerations throughout the process.
In the first instance, we encourage you to talk to us about your projects as early as possible, including at the following stages:
- At the start of your research project so we can help identify possible paths and hurdles related to intellectual property.
- Prior to public disclosure of your innovation.
- As your research evolves.
- Before the end of your project.
Where possible, we request that QUT researchers complete and provide a bluebox disclosure form:
If your idea can not be easily distilled onto paper, please contact us to arrange a meeting with one of our staff members.
Although no two projects are ever the same, we often consider a range of factors when assessing new disclosures, including:
- Technical, scientific and humanitarian considerations.
- Future development plans.
- Intellectual property strategy.
- Inventorship.
- Ownership.
- Existing contractual obligations.
- Funding sources.
- Disclosures.
- Patent / literature searches.
- Market need.
- Competition.
- Potential commercial partners.
- Commercialisation pathways.
- Social, creative and societal value.
