bluebox is the technology transfer and commercialisation company for the Queensland University of Technology. 
QUT is internationally recognised for its focus on 'real-world', applied research with a strong emphasis on industry linkages. Consequently, QUT has given rise to a significant portfolio of technologies which are commercially applicable, and in many cases industry backed.
bluebox was founded in late 2006 to consolidate and develop commercial interactions with external communities of interest, including industry, government and the investment community. The company's main areas of responsibility are:
- Developing and managing commercial relationships between QUT and industry
- Identifying and protecting QUT's intellectual property
- Collaborating with QUT research staff and students in the commercialisation of intellectual property they have created
- Licensing technologies and research outcomes to industry partners
- Forming and managing startup companies to commercialise technologies developed at QUT
- Negotiating and managing contract research collaborations which involve technology transfer or intellectual property transactions
bluebox has taken over responsibility for commercialisation from the university's Office of Commercial Services, and is now the single point of contact for all enquiries relating to technology transfer and commercialisation of QUT's intellectual property.
